CARBON1 2018-2019 Teacher, Director & Staff Support Team Member of the Year!

Teacher of the Year:  DUSTIN GRANT

Please congratulate Dustin Grant for being selected as the Carbon County School District #1 Teacher of the Year!  Dustin has been a science teacher in the District for five years, and he sponsors the Science Olympiad club and is a referee for high school wrestling.  Dustin demonstrates a high level of commitment, passion, and energy to his profession and the students he serves.  He simply refuses to allow his students to fail, and he works incredibly hard to ensure all students experience success in his classroom.  He offers extra time to work with any students who struggle and provides multiple opportunities for students to learn.  Dustin engages students in quality learning activities and works to continue building positive relationships with all students.  Dustin is a great role model for students and colleagues by showing his determination to help all students learn!  We appreciate your dedication to student success!

Director of the Year: HEATHER MORTENSEN

Please congratulate Heather Mortensen on being selected as the Carbon County School District #1 Director of the Year!  Heather has been with our District since 2008, and she has served our District in a variety of roles.  Each responsibility she has been given, she works hard to accomplish, and she’s always seeking opportunities to improve opportunities for students and provide more resources for staff.  It’s clear to anyone who works with her that she loves what she does and enjoys working as part of a team to accomplish great things!  She does all of this with an upbeat attitude and will be the first to recognize someone else’s hard work and contributions to our District.  Thanks for all that you do for our students and staff!

Staff Support of the Year: JOHN COX

Please congratulate John Cox on being selected as the Carbon County School District #1 Support Staff of the Year!  John has worked in our technology department since 2014, and during that time, he has become our student database guru, transitioning the district to Infinite Campus and helping to make it work for everyone’s needs.  Through this process, he listens to concerns and responds to staff and parents alike to help them use our systems.  He recently earned his AAS Degree in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems.  He is constantly busy, yet he will take time to help anyone who needs it, always with a smile and a positive attitude.  He consistently goes above-and-beyond by helping others in the district regardless of whether it’s his responsibility.  Thank you for your hard work and positive attitude!  We appreciate all that you do!
