COVID19 update - Carbon1 School Closure until April 3, 2020
As everyone is aware, the world pandemic and associated impacts related to the coronavirus continues to affect our community. Earlier this evening Governor Mark Gordon and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow released a joint press release recommending statewide school closures. In response to this press release CCSD1 leadership, including some Board members, public health officials, district health officials, and district leadership met to discuss the situation here in CCSD1. Even though there are no known cases in Carbon County, out of an abundance of caution, all CCSD1 schools will be closed until at least April 3rd. This includes Rawlins Elementary School (both the K-1 and 2-5), Rawlins Middle School, Rawlins High School, Rawlins Cooperative High School, Little Snake River School, Boys and Girls Club, and the Carbon County Higher Education Center.
All CCSD1 staff are still expected to report to work as normal tomorrow as it will be necessary to share additional information with them and to finalize plans for how to provide educational services to students during this temporary closure.
Parents will receive further information either later this evening or tomorrow related to these district-wide closures.
